Zeekr 9X celebrates its European premiere
Zeekr is expanding its European lineup with an exceptionally large luxury SUV. The 9X combines a plug-in hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive, six seats, and a high-voltage battery that is unusually large for this type of vehicle.
In Germany, the Zeekr 9X Ultra AWD starts at €119,500. The Black Line costs at least €126,500. Prices for Austria and Switzerland have not yet been announced.
With its 900-volt system, 55.1 kWh battery, and 179 km of electric range, the Zeekr 9X is technically closer to a fully electric car than many conventional plug-in hybrids.
Six seats in a vehicle more than 5.20 meters long
At 5.239 meters long with a wheelbase of 3.169 meters, the 9X sits in the luxury segment. The interior follows a 2+2+2 configuration, with two individual comfort seats in the second row.
These individual seats offer massage, heating, ventilation, and electrically extending leg rests. Entertainment is provided by a retractable 17-inch OLED display with 3K resolution. There is also a Naim audio system with 32 speakers and a cooling and warming compartment covering temperatures from −6°C to 50°C.

900 volts turns the plug-in hybrid into a rapid-charging vehicle
A 900-volt architecture remains unusual in the plug-in hybrid segment. It enables high charging power while keeping current levels manageable, thereby reducing thermal stress. Our comparison of 800-volt and 400-volt architectures in electric cars explains the general advantages of a high system voltage.
Zeekr claims a charging time of just 9.5 minutes from 10% to 80%. However, the manufacturer does not specify the maximum DC charging power. In everyday use, such figures also depend on battery temperature, the charging station, and preconditioning.
With up to 179 km of electric range, many commutes should be possible without using gasoline. The combustion engine remains available on longer journeys, meaning charging stops are not strictly necessary.
660 kW meets high energy demand
The system output of 660 kW accelerates the large SUV to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Its top speed is 240 km/h. The 9X therefore combines a comfort-focused interior with performance figures more commonly associated with sporty luxury models.
Zeekr quotes combined consumption figures of 28.5 kWh/100 km and 8.9 liters/100 km. Official CO₂ emissions are 77 g/km. With a plug-in hybrid, real-world fuel consumption depends particularly heavily on how regularly the vehicle is charged and what proportion of the journey is completed on electric power.
Positioning in the German market
With a starting price of €119,500, the Zeekr 9X is clearly positioned in the premium segment. Its main selling point is not performance alone, but the combination of six full-size seats, a large battery, very rapid DC charging, and extensive rear-seat amenities.
Zeekr is once again demonstrating the importance of fast high-voltage technology within the brand. The fully electric Zeekr 7X also uses a 900-volt architecture, although it is positioned in a more compact vehicle class.
The 9X is neither an affordable SUV nor a fully electric car. Nevertheless, its technical concept is compelling for buyers who want to combine maximum long-distance flexibility with a substantial electric driving range. The key question will be how closely its charging time and electric range match the manufacturer’s claims under everyday European conditions.
