Camouflaged BYD Ti 6 Takes to the Road for the First Time
A camouflaged prototype provides the first concrete indication of another boxy SUV from BYD. The model, believed to be called the Ti 6, is expected to sit below the Ti 7, offering a more affordable entry point into the rugged Titanium range.
In China, the model family belongs to BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao brand. Outside its home market, the group uses the BYD Ti name for these vehicles, meaning the new SUV would likely be marketed as the BYD Ti 6 if launched internationally.
So far, this is a camouflaged prototype with no official confirmation of the model. Its name, powertrain and market launch therefore remain provisional.
Boxy Design with Roof-Mounted LiDAR
Despite the heavy camouflage, the overall direction is clearly visible. The Ti 6 has a tall, straight-edged body with an upright front end, evoking traditional off-road vehicles without simply copying their design.
The prototype features distinctive headlights and a sensor unit on the roof. This is likely LiDAR, which uses laser pulses to scan the surroundings and assists driver-assistance systems, particularly with precise distance measurements.
The Ti 6 is expected to be a large five-seater. BYD may therefore deliberately omit a third row of seats to create more room for passengers and luggage instead.

Plug-in Hybrid Considered a Likely Option
No technical specifications for the Ti 6 are available yet. Because the larger Ti 7 is offered in China with both a battery-electric powertrain and as a plug-in hybrid, a similar strategy for the new model appears plausible.
The international version of the Ti 7 uses BYD’s Super Hybrid DM System. Three electric motors, a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 35.6 kWh Blade Battery deliver a combined output of around 300 kW. The combustion engine primarily supplies energy to the electrified powertrain.
In the UK market, the Ti 7 has an electric WLTP range of up to around 119 km, rising to as much as approximately 164 km in urban driving. This allows many everyday journeys to be completed entirely on electric power, while the combustion engine provides reassurance on longer trips. BYD is pursuing a similar approach with the larger Ti 9 plug-in hybrid.
Chinese Price Could Start at Around €18,000
The Ti 7 starts at the equivalent of around €21,500 in China. A starting price of approximately €18,000 is being discussed for the smaller Ti 6. However, this estimate is unconfirmed and cannot be applied directly to Germany, Austria or Switzerland.
Import costs, value-added tax, equipment and homologation regularly result in significantly higher list prices in Europe. The Ti 7 illustrates the potential difference, with its UK starting price equivalent to approximately €55,000.
Whether the Ti 6 will come to Europe at all remains unclear. However, BYD is continuously expanding its lineup in the region and already covers the important SUV segment with models such as the BYD Seal U.
An Interesting Addition to BYD’s SUV Offensive
The Ti 6 could fill a gap between conventional family SUVs and larger models styled like off-road vehicles. Its rugged design, five seats and modern sensor technology point to a practical everyday vehicle intended to offer more than just striking looks.
The still-unknown details concerning the battery, charging power, dimensions and powertrain will be crucial. Until BYD officially unveils the model, its price and export prospects will remain speculative, as will the extent to which it is technically related to the Ti 7.
