Tesla Browser Now Blocks Ads Directly in the Car

With software version 2026.32.3, Tesla is adding an ad blocker to its vehicles’ browser. Older infotainment systems with Intel processors in particular benefit from faster loading times and reduced system load.

Tesla Adds an Ad Blocker to the In-Car Browser

With software update 2026.32.3, the browser in Tesla vehicles gains an integrated ad blocker. The feature removes intrusive banners, pop-up windows, and floating video ads before they are fully loaded and displayed.

The filter is activated via a new AD button in the top-right corner of the browser. Extensive configuration options, such as custom filter lists or exceptions for specific websites, are not currently available. Once activated, the blocker works automatically in the background.

Fewer advertising scripts mean shorter loading times, lower data usage, and smoother operation of the in-car browser.

Why the Ad Blocker Offers More Than Convenience

Modern websites often load numerous analytics tools, animations, and external advertising networks. This content consumes memory, processing power, and data even though it is not required for the actual article or page being viewed.

The Tesla browser is based on Chromium, the technology underpinning Google Chrome and many other browsers. Tesla can therefore integrate filtering rules directly into its own browser interface. It has not yet been officially confirmed whether this uses a customized Chromium extension or a solution embedded more deeply in the browser.

Drivers using Tesla’s cellular connection with Premium Connectivity while on the road should also save some data. When using Wi-Fi, the reduction in data usage is less relevant, but faster pages and smoother animations remain beneficial.

Vehicles With Intel Hardware Benefit the Most

The update is likely to make the biggest difference in older vehicles equipped with Intel Atom processors and MCU 2. Model years of the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y with this hardware can respond more slowly on complex websites than newer vehicles with AMD Ryzen processors.

Preventing advertising elements from loading in the first place reduces the load on the CPU and memory. Particularly when several tabs are open, this can prevent delayed input or the browser having to reload due to limited resources.

The Tesla Browser Is Becoming Increasingly Versatile

The ad blocker follows several enhancements introduced in the previous 2026.26 summer update. These include bookmark synchronization, improved website scaling, full-screen video, and access to the cabin camera for supported video conferences.

This makes it possible to conduct video calls through services such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Discord, provided the relevant website is compatible with the browser. Safety-related features remain restricted while driving, so the practical focus is on charging stops and parked vehicles.

Not Every Website Will Work Perfectly

Ad blockers can occasionally cause websites to withhold content or prevent controls from loading correctly. Since Tesla currently offers no visible exception list, the only option in such cases will likely be to temporarily disable the feature using the AD button.

Overall, however, the new feature is a sensible addition. It not only improves convenience but also extends the practical lifespan of older infotainment hardware. Update 2026.32 also adds a redesigned interface for wheel and tire configurations, as well as a search function within the Apple Music library.
