BYD Da Han Gets an Official Launch Date
BYD will officially launch the Da Han in China on October 13, 2026. The electric luxury sedan is part of the Dynasty series and has been available to pre-order since August 21.
The entry-level price is 249,900 yuan. However, this Chinese price cannot be applied directly to Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, as taxes, transportation costs, and potential changes to the European specification would have to be added. BYD has not yet confirmed a European launch.
Three Versions With Up to 570 kW
BYD is offering two rear-wheel-drive versions and one all-wheel-drive model. All three use the new Blade Battery 2.0 with a usable capacity of around 102.3 kWh.

The previously revealed specifications of the BYD Da Han make the manufacturer’s goal clear: very long range combined with charging times intended to approach the duration of a conventional fuel stop. As expected, the more powerful all-wheel-drive model sacrifices some range for its additional performance.
1,008 km Is a CLTC Figure
The maximum range of 1,008 km was measured under China’s CLTC test cycle. This is generally more optimistic than the WLTP cycle used in Europe and therefore cannot be compared directly with European manufacturer figures.
Even under realistic conditions, the large battery should provide substantial long-distance range. However, without independent testing and WLTP homologation, it is not yet possible to reliably estimate how far the Da Han would actually travel on European highways.
The four-digit CLTC range is primarily a technical statement, but the WLTP figure would ultimately be decisive in Europe.
Flash Charging Is Intended to Replenish the Battery in Minutes
All versions support BYD’s Flash Charging technology. According to the manufacturer, the state of charge increases from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes under optimal conditions. Charging from 10% to 97% is said to take just 9 minutes.
BYD categorizes the system as part of its 1,500 kW charging technology. To achieve such figures in everyday use, the vehicle, battery preconditioning, and charging station must work together perfectly. BYD’s corresponding 1,500 kW charging network is initially being built in China, while European HPC (high-power charging) sites currently provide significantly lower output.
Charging from 10% to 97% would require almost 89 kWh to be delivered to the battery in 9 minutes. That corresponds to an average charging power of nearly 600 kW and illustrates how demanding the thermal management and infrastructure are for charging times like these.
Larger Than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air
At 5.26 m long, 2.00 m wide, and 1.51 m tall, the Da Han is an exceptionally large sedan. Its wheelbase measures 3.13 m. Its exterior dimensions exceed those of the Tesla Model S, among others, putting it closer to a long-wheelbase version of a traditional luxury sedan.
Standard equipment includes DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and so-called Zero Gravity front seats. Rear-wheel steering is particularly relevant for a vehicle of this length, as it can reduce the turning circle and make maneuvering easier in tight parking garages.
Driver-Assist Systems Included as Standard
BYD equips every version with the God’s Eye B assistance system. This includes navigation-assisted driving and remote parking. These remain driver-assistance features, meaning that attention and responsibility still rest with the person behind the wheel.
The Da Han demonstrates how aggressively BYD is now targeting the electric luxury segment. On paper, its enormous range figures, exceptionally high charging power, and standard comfort features make for a compelling package. Whether it will also become a relevant offering in the German-speaking DACH region—Germany, Austria, and Switzerland—will depend primarily on European approval, pricing, and the rollout of compatible charging infrastructure.
