Skoda expands the Epiq range at the lower end
Skoda has opened the order books for a new version of its electric city SUV. The Epiq 40 starts at €27,900 in Germany and is available in Essence and Selection trim levels. This provides more detail on the brand’s previously announced pricing strategy for the Skoda Epiq.
An additional entry-level version is also planned below the Epiq 40. The Epiq 35 is expected to become available to order in October and cost €25,900. Skoda has not yet provided technical specifications for this version.
LFP battery and 310 km of WLTP range
The Epiq 40 has a battery with a gross capacity of 38.5 kWh and lithium iron phosphate chemistry. The electric motor produces 99 kW and delivers up to 267 Nm of torque. Top speed is limited to 160 km/h.
It offers up to 310 km of WLTP range. Skoda states a charging time of 23 minutes from 10% to 80%. The information released so far does not specify a maximum charging power.
The Epiq 40 is not aiming for record-breaking figures, but instead offers an affordable LFP battery, a practical range and a short charging stop.
LFP cells are considered cost-effective, thermally stable and resistant to frequent charging cycles. At low temperatures, however, they require effective battery management. The heat pump available for all Epiq versions can also help reduce the energy needed to heat the cabin in winter.
With its compact battery, the Epiq 40 is aimed primarily at commuters, urban driving and regional journeys. A larger battery pack remains more convenient for regular long motorway trips. The Cupra Raval with a 37 kWh LFP battery follows a similar concept.

Even the Essence comes with LED headlights, Climatronic and a 13-inch infotainment display. Front radar assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-change and rear cross-traffic assist, an exit warning system and intersection assist are also included as standard.
The Selection adds features including a wireless smartphone charging pad, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and the KESSY keyless entry system. It also includes a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, dual-zone Climatronic, tinted windows and black 18-inch alloy wheels.
Bidirectional charging and Premium Package
For the Epiq Selection 40, Skoda also lists bidirectional charging as part of the Technology Package. The available information does not yet specify which applications, power ratings and standards will be supported at launch. Buyers will need this clarification, as bidirectional charging can encompass different functions depending on its implementation, from powering external devices to integration into an energy system.
The Premium Package can be added for €890. It includes a 25-liter frunk, a 360-degree camera, a Canton sound system with ten speakers and an intelligent parking assistant. The package is available for the Epiq Selection 40, Selection 55 and First Edition.
Epiq 35 and Epiq 55 complete the range
With 155 kW, the Epiq 55 remains the significantly more powerful alternative and is available in Essence, Selection and First Edition versions. The upcoming Epiq 35, by contrast, will serve as the most affordable model. This means the range will cover entry-level pricing from €25,900 while addressing different requirements in terms of power and equipment.
The stated prices apply to Germany. They cannot be used to determine binding market prices for Austria and Switzerland, where equipment, taxes and launch dates may differ.
An appealing entry point with a clear target audience
Within the range, the Epiq 40 appears to be the sensible middle ground. A WLTP range of 310 km, 99 kW of power and 23 minutes for a typical rapid-charging session are sufficient for many everyday driving needs without unnecessarily increasing the purchase price through a large battery.
The Essence is particularly attractive when a low entry price matters most. The Selection costs an additional €3,500 but provides noticeably more comfort and better parking equipment. Anyone seeking maximum winter efficiency or wanting to use bidirectional functions should examine the exact configuration and the outstanding technical details particularly carefully.
