Luxeed RX expands Chery’s electric car lineup
Luxeed launched the RX in China on September 28, 2026. The 5.02-meter electric SUV was developed through a partnership between Chery and Huawei and is positioned as a particularly technology-focused premium model.
Prices range from 259,800 to 389,800 yuan. That is roughly equivalent to around €31,000 to €47,000, although these figures include neither European taxes nor potential import costs.

Up to 437 kW and three battery sizes
The entry-level model has a rear-mounted electric motor producing 277 kW. The most powerful all-wheel-drive version combines two motors for a total system output of 437 kW.
The RX is available with 81.1 kWh, 100.25 kWh and 100.42 kWh batteries. Depending on the configuration, Luxeed quotes ranges of between 700 and 852 km under the Chinese China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).

CLTC figures are not directly comparable with WLTP figures and are generally more optimistic in everyday driving. Full details of the maximum charging power and electrical system voltage were not yet available at launch, making it difficult to assess the RX’s long-distance capabilities.
Unusual proportions for an electric SUV
With its long hood and the considerable distance between the front axle and dashboard, the RX looks more like a traditional grand tourer than many other electric SUVs. According to the manufacturer, 90.5% of the body is made from high-strength steel and aluminum, while torsional rigidity is said to exceed 50,000 Nm per degree.
An active suspension control system is intended to combine comfort with body control. Luxeed fits 255 mm-wide tires at the front and 275 mm-wide tires at the rear, emphasizing the sporty ambitions of the large five-seater.
Four LiDAR sensors and Huawei software
The driver-assistance system uses a total of 38 external sensors, including four LiDAR units. According to Luxeed, one of the sensors operates with 896 scan lines. This is intended to enable the RX to complete automated journeys from one address to another in China, although the driver must continuously supervise the system.
Extensive sensor technology makes the Luxeed RX technically interesting, but it replaces neither the driver’s attention nor regulatory approval for automated driving functions in Europe.
In the DACH region—Germany, Austria and Switzerland—such functions would depend on local maps, regulatory approvals and regionally adapted software. The Chinese equipment specification therefore cannot automatically be applied to a potential European version.
Large displays and adaptive seats
The cockpit features a 16.1-inch central display, an 8.88-inch screen for the front passenger, a digital instrument cluster and a 26-inch head-up display. A camera-based rearview mirror complements the conventional view to the rear.
According to the manufacturer, the front seats contain 98 sensors and 27 air chambers. They can adjust their support to the driving situation and occupant’s posture, while the side bolsters can also be actively adjusted. The trunk normally holds 622 liters and can be opened using a touch-free function.
Just ahead of the Xiaomi YU7 Max
The most powerful Luxeed RX completed a lap of the Zhejiang International Circuit in 1:43.210 minutes. This made it 0.174 seconds faster than the Xiaomi YU7 Max tested there. However, the difference is minimal and, without identical tires and transparent test conditions, says little about everyday performance.
In the Chinese market, the RX faces a growing number of large high-tech SUVs. These include models such as the Xpeng G9L and the similarly spacious Denza N8.
European launch remains uncertain
Luxeed is part of Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), which also includes brands such as Aito and Stelato. Huawei supplies digital platforms, driver-assistance technology and parts of the infotainment system, while Chery contributes its development and manufacturing expertise.
The Luxeed RX has not yet been announced for Germany, Austria or Switzerland. If the model comes to Europe, the key factors would be a realistic WLTP figure, charging power, software availability and its price after taxes. On paper, the RX already demonstrates how quickly Chinese manufacturers are bringing large electric SUVs with high power outputs and extensive sensor technology to market.
