Fiat Topolino Dolcevita becomes a regular-production open-top version
Fiat is bringing more fresh air to its electric Topolino family. On the new Topolino Dolcevita, an adjustable retractable fabric roof is now part of the standard equipment rather than being reserved for a limited special edition.
The concept combines an enclosed body with a noticeably airier driving experience. On short urban journeys in particular, the folding roof is likely to make more of a difference than additional power, as Fiat has made no changes to the proven drivetrain.
Technology remains designed for short urban journeys
The Topolino is not a conventional small car, but an electric light quadricycle in the EU’s L6e vehicle class. Its top speed is therefore limited to 45 km/h. Depending on the country and the driver’s circumstances, it can be driven with an appropriate license, such as the AM moped license category.

The electric motor drives the front wheels. With up to 75 km of range, the two-seater is primarily suited to local commutes, shopping trips and short journeys through densely built-up city centers.
Charging without a wallbox
Charging is handled via a standard 230-volt household outlet. Thanks to its small battery, the Topolino needs neither high AC charging power nor a fast-charging port. Arrive empty → fully charged again after around four hours.
This makes the vehicle straightforward to use, although it still requires a suitable, professionally installed outlet at its parking space. Anyone who regularly travels longer distances or needs highway speeds will find the electric Fiat 500 a far more complete vehicle.
Small dimensions are its greatest everyday advantage
At just 2.54 m long, the Topolino requires significantly less parking space than a conventional passenger car. Its 7.2 m turning circle also helps in narrow streets and parking garages. However, its two seats and limited speed clearly restrict how it can be used.
The Topolino Dolcevita is not intended to replace a conventional car, but to cover short urban journeys in an especially compact and locally emission-free way.
This also sets it apart from affordable full-size electric cars such as the upcoming 2027 Dacia Spring. These offer more range and greater everyday versatility, but require correspondingly more space and belong to a different vehicle class.
Fiat continues to expand the Topolino family
With the Dolcevita, Fiat is adding to the Corallo and Sport versions already available, as well as the limited Vilebrequin edition. The underlying technical concept remains identical, with the main differences being the open roof and more leisure-oriented design.
According to the manufacturer, sales of the model range in Europe’s electric quadricycle segment increased by up to 30% compared with the same period a year earlier. The Dolcevita is intended to address this demand with a more emotive regular-production version, without changing the Topolino’s simple, city-friendly formula.
