Model Y from Grünheide equipped with Super Manifold V2
Tesla appears to be gradually switching production of the Model Y at Gigafactory Berlin to a revised thermal module. A component labeled Super Manifold V2 was discovered in a Model Y Standard built on August 27, 2026.
Another report mentions a vehicle built as early as June 2026. The exact introduction date therefore remains unclear, and Tesla may also be implementing the change differently depending on the variant, parts availability, or production batch.
What the Super Manifold does in a Tesla
The Super Manifold is a central component of the thermal system. Together with the heat pump and Octovalve, it distributes heat between the high-voltage battery, cabin, and powertrain.
This integration is crucial because the individual components have different requirements depending on the outside temperature and driving conditions. Waste heat from the powertrain can be used in other areas, for example, while the battery is specifically cooled or preheated during fast charging.
More efficient thermal management does not automatically mean greater WLTP-rated range, but it can have a positive effect on energy consumption and temperature stability in everyday use.
What is expected to change with Version 2
The Super Manifold V2 is designed to combine more components in a single assembly. It is also expected to offer greater thermal capacity and more efficient control.
This is particularly relevant on longer journeys involving sustained high power, high outside temperatures, and repeated Supercharging. More thermal headroom → the battery and powertrain can remain within their optimal temperature ranges for longer under load.
In the long term, this could result in more consistent charging power, steadier performance, and lower energy consumption by the climate-control system. However, Tesla has not yet officially specified increased range or charging power for vehicles fitted with the new component. A recent Model Y Standard efficiency test also shows how efficiently the Model Y already operates today.

How to check which version is installed
The module is located on the left-hand side beneath the frunk tub. On the new version, the designation SUPER MANIFOLD V2 is attached directly to the component. However, a visual inspection requires removing the frunk tub, which is best left to a service center unless you have the necessary experience.
Alternatively, Tesla’s parts catalog may provide the answer. After entering the vehicle identification number, the original component listing shows which version was assigned to the vehicle at the factory. The relevant identifiers are the part numbers listed in the table.
Typical Tesla product updates without model years
Tesla frequently improves vehicles directly during ongoing production instead of tying changes to traditional model years. As a result, two Model Y vehicles built shortly after one another may contain different components even though their model names and key technical specifications are unchanged.
The Super Manifold V2 should therefore primarily be regarded as a detailed technical improvement. Whether it produces measurable benefits in energy consumption, charging speed, or performance will require comparisons under identical conditions. For buyers, the main message for now is that the German-built Model Y continues to be developed under the bodywork as well.
