42,000 orders after just 20 days
The MG 07 is quickly becoming a sales success for SAIC in China. Within 20 days, MG collected more than 42,000 confirmed orders for the new fastback sedan.
According to the manufacturer, 10,000 orders were registered in less than two minutes when the model launched on August 21, 2026. After 11 days, the MG 07 had already reached 31,000 orders.
More than 45% of early orders are for versions offering over 800 km of CLTC range.
Order figures like these should not be equated with registrations or completed deliveries. However, they indicate that MG’s combination of aggressive pricing, long range and extensive technology appears to be hitting the mark in the Chinese market.
MG 07 available as an EV and plug-in hybrid
MG offers the 07 as both a battery-electric model and a plug-in hybrid. It is based on SAIC’s modular Nebula platform, known outside China as the Modular Scalable Platform.

The WLTP figures are estimates only and not official European homologation data. For the plug-in hybrid, MG also claims a combined CLTC range of up to 1,745 km, although the Chinese test cycle makes this figure difficult to translate directly into everyday European driving conditions.
Another technically interesting model is the 610 km version with semi-solid-state cells from Qingtao. This is not a fully solid-state battery, but an intermediate technology with a reduced amount of liquid electrolyte.
800 volts and 5C for the long-range version
The flagship electric model combines an 800-volt architecture with silicon carbide power electronics and a 5C-capable battery. Our overview of 800-volt and 400-volt architectures in electric cars explains how 800 volts compares with a conventional 400-volt system.
The C-rate describes how quickly a battery can be charged relative to its capacity. In theory, 5C represents an extremely high charging rate, but in practice it does not automatically mean a full charge in 12 minutes. Battery temperature, the charging curve, cell protection and the charger’s output remain decisive factors.
LiDAR and adaptive suspension at highly competitive prices
Selected variants feature a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. MG combines it with a driver-assistance system from Momenta and its own high-performance chip. LiDAR can precisely measure distances and map the vehicle’s surroundings, but it does not automatically make the MG 07 an autonomous car.
MG also upgrades the suspension above the base trim. Instead of a simple torsion-beam rear axle, these models use a multi-link setup. The electronically controlled mCDC system analyzes the road 15 to 150 meters ahead and can adjust the damping up to 200 times per second.
Regular prices in China range from 108,900 to 159,900 yuan. With the launch incentive available until the end of September, prices fall to between 105,900 and 156,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately €13,400 to €19,800. However, exchange rates, taxes and Chinese subsidy conditions mean these amounts are not comparable with potential European prices.
CATL to provide additional battery production lines
Strong demand for the EV 845 is bringing production capacity into focus. During the presales phase, MG had already asked CATL to allocate two additional battery production lines.
Deliveries of the plug-in hybrid and the electric 650 km variants began at the end of August. The 845 km model with its 800-volt architecture is scheduled to reach customers from October. This will show how quickly MG can turn its orders into produced vehicles.
European launch remains uncertain for now
The MG 07 has not yet been confirmed for Germany, Austria or Switzerland. A launch would certainly be of interest, as electric fastback sedans with 800-volt architectures and large batteries normally cost considerably more in Europe.
However, the highly competitive Chinese price cannot simply be transferred to Europe. Homologation, shipping, value-added tax, potential tariffs and adjustments to standard equipment would increase the price. For now, the MG 07 is therefore primarily a strong indication of how quickly technology and pricing continue to evolve in China’s electric vehicle market.
