Check the MMI version and map version

Then check the myAudi account linked to the vehicle. If map updates or navigation services are offered there, this method is generally intended for the registered vehicle. Use an SD card with sufficient capacity and compatible formatting, and copy the data exactly as instructed. An extra folder level or manually renamed files may prevent the MMI from recognizing the package.

Why just any SD card often will not work
In some older Audi systems, the map data is stored on an official SD card or requires a vehicle-specific activation code. In such cases, copying a card from another vehicle is not sufficient. Storage media offered online may also be outdated, incompatible, or lack a valid license.

Avoid common errors
Common reasons why an update is not recognized include an incorrect map package, unsuitable formatting, incomplete downloads, or files in the wrong directory. An MMI firmware update is not the same as a map update and should only be performed in accordance with the relevant manufacturer instructions.
