In episode 85, Nico and Constantin check in from very different settings: Constantin is sitting in an aggressively air-conditioned hotel room in Bangkok, while Nico, back home, has suddenly discovered his love of flying. After a brief detour into the latest headlines surrounding JP Performance, a German automotive YouTube and tuning brand, and developments behind the scenes in the industry, they quickly return to where ElektroQuatsch feels most at home: cars, technology, and a dose of irony.

Tesla takes up the largest part of the episode, with topics including the new “Zen Gray” interior color and a rare roadside find: Nico reports spotting a Model S Plaid Signature Edition in his area. The two also look ahead to the announced Cybercab event and run through possible scenarios, including robotaxi color schemes and show segments featuring Optimus.

Along the way, several smaller Tesla topics add up to reveal a great deal about the company’s current direction: increased range thanks to aero wheels, Grok 2.0 AI, and a karaoke update that, of all places, suddenly does not work quite as well in the back seat. This blend of major announcements and detailed updates defines the Tesla portion of the episode.

The competition offers greater contrasts: VW comes up in a discussion spanning factory issues and management debates, but also presents the ID. California Cruise as an approach to relaxed electric camping. The episode also covers recurring Seat conversion ideas, what the two consider a remarkable Polestar moment, and, as the icing on the cake, the €163,000 Range Rover as an example of just how wildly prices currently vary.
